2,000 families in Central Luzon affected by 'Rosita’

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Over 2,000 families in Central Luzon were affected as typhoon “Rosita” battered the region with strong winds and heavy rains on Monday.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Region III (DSWD-Central Luzon) reported that the affected families reached 2,245 families, which account for 5,891 persons from 37 barangays in the region.

About 1,244 families or 2,983 persons were also reported to have transferred to evacuation centers in different parts of the region, according to the Regional and Provincial Quick Response Teams.

The DSWD-Central Luzon has alloted relief goods in the province of Aurora, which is one of the most affected areas.

The Department of Health (DOH) has provided a total of P1,100,162.34 worth of medicines including Campolas (composed of Cotrimoxazole, Amoxicillin, Mefenamic Acid, Paracetamol, ORS, Lagundi, Vitamin A and skin ointment), doxycycline, other medicines and supplies to all of its provincial offices in the region.

Personnel and resources from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police and Bureau of Fire Protection are on standby for possible rescue and retrieval operations on flooded areas.
