Pre-screening set at Naia 3 next week

THE pre-screening of passengers upon departure will be implemented next week at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport 3.

Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said during an interview on October 31, at Francisco Bangoy International Airport that there will be two or three counters preceding the Immigration counters, wherein a pre-processing for the overseas Filipino workers’ (OFWs) documents will be screened.

"Pag kumpleto na they will be advised to proceed already, ibig sabihin may pre-processing na tayo na di na sila magtatagal sa main counter, (If their documents are complete they will be advised to proceed, it means we already have a pre-processing so that they will not stay longer at the main counter)," Morente said.

He also said that prior to this, when the passengers arrived at the counter they needed to undergo an assessment by an immigration officer and if problems were seen in their documents they would be subjected to another screening which would take a long waiting time.

"Marami tayong mga overseas Filipino workers na nao-offload, ibig sabihin di sila napapasakay, (We have a lot of OFWs that were offloaded, meaning they were not able board their flight)," Morente added.

He also said the implementation of the pre-screening will be cascaded in international terminals in the country.
