POLICEMEN have arrested an escapee, who bolted from jail five years ago, in a manhunt operation in Zamboanga del Sur province, an official announced Friday, November 02.
Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested escapee as Bernabe Lumawas, alias Mario, who escaped on May 12, 2013 from San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm in Zamboanga City.
Galvez said Lumawas was arrested around 5 a.m. Friday at Purok 3 in Macasing village, Dumingag, Zamboanga Del Sur. Recovered from him was a caliber .38 revolver with six ammunition.
She said Lumawas was serving a sentence for the crime of double homicide when he escaped from San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm.
