Village gets solar panel for street lights

A VILLAGE in Apalit, Pampanga recently received from the local government three solar panels to power up the streetlights in their community.

Mayor Peter Nucom, together with Councilor Edmon “Tuks” Simon, turned over the solar panels to Barangay Cansinala officials.

The project aims to modernize and provide eco-friendly resources to the community.

Barangay Cansinala is one of the barangays that are accessible only by boat.

Nucom said that the village needs proper lighting to guide and secure boat riders.

“Our main goal is to ensure the security of our constituents here through proper lighting on streets. And alongside this, we are also into ensuring the preservation of our environment so instead of using bulbs that adds up to our environmental problem, we opted to use solar-powered ones,” Nucom explained.

Nucom said that Barangay Cansinala is the first village to receive solar-powered streetlights as the local government is set to cover the remaining 11 villages in town.

“The local government allocated a particular fund to provide solar panels on the streetlights of the barangays. We believe this will be an investment since after installing the solar panels, the barangays will be able to save up from the electric consumption,” Nucom said.
