Padilla: Thank you for your greetings and prayers on my 87th natal day

(First of a series)

LAST Wednesday, October 31, my family and I celebrated silently but joyfully my 87th birthday at home in Benin. Thank you to the Holy Family in heaven for their grace and blessings bestowed on me for all these years.

According to my late mother Leonora, I was the first boy born in the family after my elder sisters Stela, Lelia and Rosita. I was born at City Camp, this city. My younger brother and sister are Rolando and Virginia.

My father then was a member of the Philippine Constabulary Force training at Camp Henry T. Allen in 1928. Sometime in 1937, he joined the Baguio City Police Force. Two years later, my father resigned and became the assistant chief of police of Balatoc Mines until the start of World War II in 1941.

The pictures in this page show some of the highlight activities in my life as a former basketball player and as the ROTC Corps Commander of Baguio Tech in the early 1950’s; as a city councilor in 1993, as a scouter in the 10th World Scout Jamboree in Mt. Makilang, Laguna in 1959 and as the Filipino Company Commander of Co. 333, United States Naval Training Center in San Diego 33, California, USA in 1954.
