34 nabbed, drug den dismantled in Tagum City raid

THIRTY-FOUR alleged drug personalities were arrested while inside a drug den, which was also dismantled, during the anti-drug operation on Friday, November 2, at Purok 3, Durian Avenue, Barangay Madaum, Tagum City.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao regional director Police Chief Superintendent Marcelo Morales commended the operatives of Tagum City Police Station headed by Police Superintendent Philip Jefferson Ayban and Davao del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company (DNPMFC) led by Police Superintendent Werenfredo Regidor, Jr. for the successful operation.

Authorities yielded four grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” amounting to more or less P54,000 during the operation conducted in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Davao at 12 midnight of November 2.

During the operation, an agent posed as a buyer and transacted with the targets identified as Resolo Brunay alias Tata Igit and alias Kuringking.

The undercover policeman purchased one big transparent cellophane containing “shabu” from the targets. However, Kuringking resisted arrest that resulted to an armed confrontation.

Morales said that Brunay managed to escape.

Recovered from the scene were a pair of slippers and one unit homemade .38 revolver loaded with three pieces of ammunition, two of which were live.

The team likewise seized 11 sachets containing suspected shabu, three improvised glass tooters, six aluminum strips, 12 disposable lighters, five sachets with residues of shabu, one black pouch containing assorted sizes of empty cellophane, drug bust money, and two bamboo clips.

"The two subjects of the buy-bust (Brunay and alias Kuringking) are listed in the station's Drug Watch list," Morales said.

Meanwhile, the arrested persons are currently detained at Tagum City Police Station for filing of case for violation of RA 9165, otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and additional case for alias Kuringking for violation of RA 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Regulations Act.
