UV, Ateneo flex muscles in Milo

CEBU bets University of the Visayas (UV) and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) have won their respective opening games in the Visayas Regional Finals of the SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Gym.

UV totally outclassed Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion, 77-33, in the SBP division. UV displayed its grit-and-grind style of play and disrupted Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion’s with its trapping defense that led to instant offense.

UV immediately took the lead in the opening quarter and the lead ballooned to 13 points, 35-22, at halftime. It was in the second half that UV dominated Colegio de la Purisima, holding them to just four points in the third and seven points in the fourth. UV outscored its opponent, 38-11, in the second half.

Jan Mark Toring had 12 points for UV, while Kenneth Cole added 10.

Meanwhile, SHS-AdC beat host Bacolod Tay Tung High School, 60-53, in the Passerelle division.

It was a close game, before SHS-AdC finished off Bacolod Tay Tung High School in the second half. Sean Uribe led SHS-AdC with 10 markers, while the Allosada twins--William Agamemnon and William Archimedez--chipped in seven each.

SBP division favorite St. John’s Academy of Bacolod destroyed Hua Siong College of Iloilo, 75-31, while Passerelle division powerhouse St. Robert’s International Academy thrashed Hercor College of Roxas, 78-60.

Both UV and SHS-AdC were playing in their second games at press time. EKA
