CEBUANO triathlete Andrew Kim Remolino made his presence felt in the sprint category of the inaugural Black Arrow Express 5150 in Subic Bay on Sunday, Nov. 4.
The 18-year-old national team member was the fastest to finish the 750-meter swim, 20K bike and 5K run after clocking 1 hour, 2 minutes and 39 seconds en route to winning overall sprint honor and the men’s 15 to 19 division title.
Remolino, a Grade 12 student of Paref Springdale School, outlasted Neil Aynera and Joshua Alexander Ramos, who clocked 1:03:02 and 1:04:10, in the overall sprint race ranking.
The swimmer-turned triathlete Remolino had a strong start, finishing the swim segment in 9:56 to put himself in the lead pack. He continued to lead in the bike portion with a time of 31:21.
Remolino of Team Go For Gold capped the race with a 18:19 time in the run part.
Ramos and Juan Francisco Baniqued (1:04:57) finished at second and third places in the men’s 15 to 19 class, while Cebuano Reny Wynn Cobrin (1:05:53) settled at fourth place.
Remolino will race next in the 2018 Dumaguete Triathlon on Nov. 18.
Meanwhile, Aussie Mitch Robins (1:54:56) and Manami Iijima of Guam (2:13:56) topped the men’s and women’s pro 5i50 race that covered 1.5K swim, 40K bike and 10K run. (RSC)
