Wounded cops in Bukidnon blast now safe

THE three members of the 1003rd Mobile Company who were wounded in a grenade explosion in San Fernando, Bukidnon, last week, have been discharged from the hospital, a Northern Mindanao police official said over the weekend.

Superintendent Surki Serenas, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in Northern Mindanao, said the wounded police personnel are now recovering from the wounds they sustained after the blast.

Police Officer (PO) 3 Anna Marie Suan, PO1s Markem Tanto, and Via Amor Binay-an were wounded after a grenade went off at a tennis court near the duty post 1 gate, 1003rd Mobile Company, Regional Mobile Forces Battalion(RMFB) in Northern Mindanao in Purok 1 Comawas, Halapitan, San Fernando town, last Wednesday, October 31.

Investigation showed that two unidentified suspects onboard two Baja motorcycles and were believed to be members of the New People’s Army (NPA) threw an object before the blast, according to the witnesses.

Investigators identified the grenade as PRB No.423 hand fragmentation grenade.

The Ordnance Explosive Division (EOD) of the Bukidnon police also conducted the Render Safe Procedure and recovered an unexploded grenade inside the camp. It was subsequently defused.

Authorities identified one of the suspects as Reynante Tumbalang alias Jigger of the NPA's Guerilla Front Committee-6.
