THERE will be some 300 buses and minibuses that will transport passengers from the south to Cebu City today, Nov. 5, but some may still experience difficulty in getting a ride.

Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) manager Jonathan Tumulak hopes that more local government units (LGUs) in the south will deploy buses to transport passengers from their localities.

Before All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, 11 LGUs committed to deploy their buses to accommodate stranded passengers bound for the southern towns.

But after the long weekend, only Carcar City and Dumanjug town are providing free bus rides to their constituents who are going back to the city.

Based on their count, from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2, some 260,000 passengers went to the CSBT to get a ride to the southern towns.

Tumulak said that those who went home to the towns have started returning to the city last Saturday, Nov. 3, but they still expect an influx of passengers today.

Those who want to take Carcar City’s buses bound for Cebu City can go to the New Carcar City Hall and present their Purok ID cards.

The Municipal Government of Dumanjug, for its part, has scheduled bus trips to the city at 7 a.m., 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., and at 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The trips at night are at 9 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Passengers who are pregnant, the elderly and persons with disabilities will be prioritized. (JKV)
