A PUBLIC school teacher was wounded in gun attack in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported on Monday, November 5.
Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, disclosed the incident happened around 6:40 p.m., Sunday, November 4, at Purok Lerio in the village of San Pablo, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur.
Galvez identified the victim as Rhoem Rey Bontoyan, 40, a resident of Maralag villag and a teacher of the Dumingag National High School.
Galvez said investigation showed that Bontoyan was in Purok Lerio when the unidentified gunman arrived and shot him with a caliber 45 pistol.
She said Bontoyan was rushed to the hospital with a bullet wound in the leg while the suspect immediately fled after the incident.
Investigation continues in a bid to establish the motive and unmask the identity of the suspect, she added. (SunStar Philippines)
