SM joins quarterly nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill

SM MALLS in Pampanga joined the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), a quarterly National Distaste Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC)-led activity that seeks to educate public on disaster preparedness against earthquakes and to showcase government capability on disaster response.

With the holiday season picking up, SM malls in Pampanga, Clark, San Fernando Downtown, Telabastagan and Savemore Market Apalit held simulations on earthquake and evacuation participated by customers, employees, affiliates, tenants, and staff on its continuous promotion in providing education and awareness to its front liners and partners on these natural and/or man-made catastrophes through conducting regular seminars on safety and evacuation.

Over 1,500 participants including customers, tenants/affiliates, BPO and SM employees and agencies participated in the simultaneous drills. The malls in Pampanga, San Fernando Downtown and Telabastagan were fully supported by local government partners present from Bureau of Fire Protection Mexico (BFP) headed by SI Josie Lising, BFP City of San Fernando SFO3 Melvin Manlutac, Philippine National Police (PNP) City of San Fernando, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) representatives Rowel Tablante, Mark Sarmiento and Antonio Dungo who have been training and in close coordination on earthquake and fire simulations in SM malls in Pampanga.

All SM malls nationwide actively participates in this worthy and life-saving endeavor. A regular seminar is held to tenants on the proper duck, cover and hold position in times of earthquake and evacuation over mall orientations. (PR)
