THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Davao has begun to make rounds in the city to check on the Christmas Light being sold in the market.

DTI-Davao regional director Ma. Belenda Ambi said the Yuletide season celebration must not sacrifice safety.

“Mao pud jud siya ang among gina-monitor extensively throughout the region kay labi na padulong nata sa Christmas na season (This is what we have been extensively monitoring throughout the region especially that we are nearing Christmas season),” Ambi said in an interview on October 5, 2018 at DTI Regional Office, Davao City.

Ambi added for Davao City they have already started monitoring establishments selling Christmas lights.

“Sa Davao City nakamonitor nata og 11 establishments. Kasagaran mga hardware stores and malls ni sila nga nagabaligya og Christmas products (For Davao City, we have monitored 11 establishments. Most of these are hardware stores malls selling Christmas lights),” Ambi said.

In their recent monitoring, ambi said none have violated the regulations in maintaining quality products sold in the market.

Ambi added that the result of the monitoring is part of their constant campaign against substandard Christmas products.

“Ang Christmas lights kay dapat under standards set by the department. Kung imported kay dapat naay tatak nga ICC (Import Commodity Clearance). Kung local dapat naa siya PS (Philippine Standard) marks (Christmas light must be under the standards set by the department. If it is imported then it should have an ICC mark. If it is local, it should PS marks),” Ambi said.

In any case there are business establishments which are selling substandard Christmas products, Ambi said consumers can report these cases immediately to DTI.
