Info kits distribution ongoing in barangays

DAVAO City Councilor Avegayle Ortiz-Omalza said the city continues to distribute information kits to advocate family planning.

She said that through the distribution of hygiene kits and Pagababago bags in different barangays, the public will be informed that poverty could be fought through proper family planning.

“Ang local government, nagasuporta man sa tanang citizens sa Davao pero unta naay planning (The city government of Davao has been supporting its citizens but it would help if couples would resort to family planning),” Ortiz-Omalza told reporters yesterday after the flag ceremony.

“Kay kung daghan kaayo ang anak, dili mahatagan ug saktong pag-aruga, dili mapakaon ug tarong, dili mapa-eskwela ug tarong it’s because walay kwarta or dili maigo ang kwarta para sa pamilya (If a couple has many children, they will not be able to give them the proper care, they might also fail in feeding them properly or even send them to school because they do not have enough money for it),” she added.

Meanwhile, she said that since the family is the basic unit of the society, it will all start there, pointing out some societal issues like malnutrition, illiteracy, among others.

If the couple cannot afford to nurture more than one child, then they should not have more than what they think they are capable of.

“Dili nato ipadayon ang kapobrehon, ang ipadayon nato ang kalambuan sa siyudad sa Davao (We should not continue poverty, instead, the development of the city of Davao),” she said, adding that development can only be pursued if the citizens are well-educated.
