Bacolod Division meet opens Nov. 6; 7,000 athletes, officials expected

MORE than 7,000 student-athletes, coaches, and delegation officials from the four units of secondary schools and seven districts of elementary level are expected to converge at the Panaad Park and Stadium at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, for the opening rites of the 2018 Bacolod City Athletic Association Meet.

Schools Division Superintendent Cynthia Dimavivas urged all participating units and districts to take part in this event, with a theme "Stronger Bacolod: Synergy for Sports Supremacy."

Expected to grace the occasion is Bacolod City Representative Greg Gasataya, Mayor Evelio Leonardia and members of the City Council.

Meanwhile, athletic manager Eden Ariola said that aside from the student-athletes, there will also be more than 250 technical officials who will be joining the ceremony.

Ariola added that some of the events like football and volleyball will be played ahead due to lack of venues.

Among the events to be contested in both levels are arnis, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, chess, football, gymnastics, sepaktakraw, sipa, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, and volleyball.

Te event will also serve as the qualifying round for the upcoming Palarong Panlalawigan next month.
