THE joint committee on police, fire, public safety, and the trade and commerce will summon the courier company LBC Tuesday, November 6, to shed light on the series of robberies on the said establishment.
Councilor Romeo Calizo, chairperson of the committee on police, fire, and public safety, said they will review the security set-up of LBC and find out why it attracts robbers.
Calizo said the authorities have long been suggesting to the LBC management to hire security guards to prevent robbery, but to no avail.
"We will find out why they decide against hiring security guards and why, for a business which involves cash flow every day. Is their security measure weak?" he said.
Calizo said the City Council will step in especially if the matter concerns public safety already.
Calizo said all establishments are mandated to put up necessary security measures, including putting up a closed-circuit television, which the management still fails to maintain.
Councilor George Goking said his concern is if nearby establishments will be affected of LBC's loose security measures.
Goking said the council might recommend sanctions against LBC.
He is also considering crafting an ordinance that will require business establishments to put up all necessary security requirements before getting a business permit, Goking added. (PJ Orias)
