THE third suspect in the murder of a 63-year-old Chinese businesswoman, whose body was placed in a refrigerator, in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City last week surrendered at the Badian Police Station.

Johnny Duerme Banilad, 28, from Barangay Tigbao, Badian, is the elder brother of the two other suspects, Jeffrey, 22, and Francisco, 27. The three of them worked for Victoria Po Loa’s business. Johnny was a liquor mixer for 15 years, Jeffrey for 11 years, and Francisco for eight.

The Talisay Police established that robbery was the motive behind Po’s killing. Po reportedly refused to reveal the number combination for her vault’s lock.

Jeffrey and Francisco were about to leave Badian town for Negros island, but the Talisay Police caught up with them.

Upon knowing that his brothers were arrested and had confessed to the crime, Johnny contacted Badian Police officer SPO1 Josefina Beriamente and barangay officials to help arrange his surrender.

The police considered the case solved, although they are still looking for the vault, which contained Po’s money, that the suspects had brought.

Johnny denied he had something to do with Po’s killing since he left earlier. He said his younger brothers were the ones who killed the businesswoman. (AYB of SuperBalita Cebu)
