PamCham urges members to join Christmas decor tilt

THE Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (PamCham) is urging its members to support this year’s City of San Fernando's Giant Lantern Festival by participating in the Christmas decor competition for business establishments.

The Chamber noted that those with offices/business establishments in the area, and are interested to join may submit their entrees on November 9, the extended deadline for PamCham members.

“In the tradition of the unique and joyous Filipino way of celebrating Christmas, the City of San Fernando, Pampanga will celebrate the 110th year of the local lantern making industry, the culmination of which will be the Giant Lantern Festival (GLF) on December 15 at Robinsons Starmills,” Architect Nestor Mangio, PamCham chairperson for inter-commercial establishments Christmas decor competition, said.

“To foster public-private partnerships, create a welcoming, colorful and festive atmosphere, the Giant Latern Festival Executive Committee will organize an Inter-Commercial Establishments Christmas Decor Competition until December 5, involving the commercial establishments along Jose Abad Santos Avenue, MacArthur Highway, Lazatin Boulevard, and other parts of the city with a multi-sectoral planning committee. The competition will further promote the City of San Fernando as the Christmas Capital of the Philippines,” he added.

He said the activity will also help not only to spread joy this season, but will also uplift the lantern industry and stimulate social and economic development in the city.

The contest is open to all commercial establishments along the areas mentioned; the contest is for exterior decorations, including decoration in windows that are seen from the outside; the participants must decorate their main entrance with bright displays and glows with the theme “Festival of Lights.”

Criteria of the competition will include, a) relevance to the theme; b) originality and creativity of design; c) overall appeal and visual impact; and d) craftsmanship.

Moreover, the decorations may also display the product or brand of the establishment. Small businesses that are adjacent to each other may join and have their entry as a group.

Winners shall receive plaques and cash prize amounting to P30,000 for the champion, P20,000 for the 1st runner up and P10,000 for the 2nd runner up. Winners will be announced during the Giant Lantern Festival Competition on December 15 at Robinsons Starmills.
