5G network to boost Clark infrastructure

CLARK FREEPORT -- The launching on Monday of the country’s first 5G network is expected to boost infrastructure in the Freeport.

The latest wireless telecommunications platform is seen to benefit not just locators here but also other industries in various parts of the country through more reliable and smart technology.

Due to its safe and secure environment for electronics, business and data storage and protection, this Freeport serves as a preferred location by leading telecommunications companies in the country.

Clark Development Corporation (CDC) president and CEO Noel Manankil and Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) president and CEO Vivencio Dizon lauded the launching of the 5G network here.

Manankil said that the launching of the new network will serve as a platform to help in the achievement of smart and technology-based communities in the country.

“We are glad that Clark was chosen to serve as the location for the very first 5G wireless platform in the Philippines. This, we believe, will not only be of benefit to Clark locators but also the many industries, various businesses and communities in the country as well,” Manankil said.

Dizon also thanked the PLDT-Smart Enterprise for choosing this Freeport as their prime location for launching the 5G network.

“They all say that this will really change the way we are connected to each other, and we are honored to be the first deployment of 5G network in the country,” he added.

Meanwhile, executives of a leading telecommunications company in the country have also cited the suitability of Clark as their prime location.

Ericsson Head of Market Area for South East Asia, Oceana and Indiana, Nunzio Mirtillo mentioned their plan of installing the first 5G network here, as he also cited the potentials of this Freeport for being a technology hub in the country.

“This November, we will install one 5G radio here in Clark. It is one of the best places in the world where you will have a live commercial technology in the country,” Mirtillo said.

During the launching, PLDT and Smart Enterprise Business Groups Senior Vice-President Jovy Hernandez said that the launching of 5G network in this Freeport will set another reason for investors to choose Clark as their business location.

“By piloting 5G in Clark, we are making this zone even more attractive to foreign investors. Through this pilot, we are putting the possibilities of 5G closer to industries, businesses and enterprises operating in the city,” Hernandez said.
