AS A result of the tight security implemented during All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, elements of the Police Regional Office III (PRO-Central Luzon) were able to confiscate several bladed weapons and a firearm at the entrance of cemeteries.
Based on PRO-Central Luzon’s report, stricter “frisking” implemented by policemen resulted to the seizure of 47 bladed weapons and one caliber .38 revolver from individuals visiting cemeteries all over the region last November 1 and 2.
Moreover, the regional police office reported that the observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day in Central Luzon was generally peaceful as no major incidents have been recorded despite thousands of people flocking to the different cemeteries.
PRO-Central Luzon Regional Director Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus credited the successful maintenance of peace and order during the holidays to the preparatory measures laid out by the police force to ensure the safety of motorists, commuters and the public.
He also cited the conduct of “Red Teaming” operations by the different squads both from provincial police offices and regional headquarters and the inspections being done by area supervisors that complemented the over-all security measures of PNP-Central Luzon.
“The deployment of more than 6,000 police personnel to render duties as road safety marshalls and to man the different police assistance centers and hubs established along major thoroughfares particularly in the ingress and egress points of NLEx, SCTEx and TPLEx to help motorists who were travelling towards their different provinces and for those heading back to Manila and other places to report for work on Monday, November 5, were vital in ensuring the peaceful observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day,” Corpus said.
