THE Technical, Educational Skills and Development Authority (Tesda) conferred the City of San Fernando Public Employment Service Office (Peso) with the “Kabalikat” award on Monday at city hall.

The Kabalikat award is given to a local government unit which manifested remarkable performance in the promotion and enhancement of technical education and skills development.

Tesda Provincial Director Jaime Castillo stated that the city government, through its Peso, has invested enough funds to implement programs and projects for Fernandinos, making it the agency’s outstanding partner.

“It invested almost P2-million from 2015-2017 on skills training scholarship, National Certificate II Assessment, and employment facilitation services such as provision of starter kits and referral for wage employment,” Castillo said.

Castillo also shared the city’s accomplishment in terms of trained graduate production.

“The city also produced more than 500 trained graduates and 89.45% of these graduates were assisted and monitored employed,” Castillo added.

For his part, Mayor Edwin Santiago stated that he is glad the city was named outstanding partner of Tesda.

“The Peso has been receiving recognitions from other government offices, locally and nationally. Now, we are considered as TESDA’s outstanding partner. Meaning, we are successfully making the lives of Fernandinos' better,” he said.

The city’s Peso received the Civil Service Commission’s Regional Pagasa award last year, and was also named as Outstanding Peso Implementer by the Department of Labor and Employment this year.
