Traffic enforcer nabbed in drug bust

ANOTHER employee of the City Government of San Fernando was arrested by joint elements of San Fernando Police, San Simon Police and Provincial Intelligence Branch Pampanga during an anti-illegal drug operations launched in Barangay Sta. Lucia.

Pampanga Police Provincial Office acting director Senior Superintendent Nicolas Salvador identified the suspect as Jonas Lingat, 31, and employed as traffic enforcer of the City Traffic Management Division of San Fernando for over four years now.

Salvador disclosed that a police asset assisted by personnel of San Simon Police Station reported that Lingat was involved in the proliferation of illegal drugs in the City of San Fernando.

“The information tipped to us prompted us to conduct series of surveillance and test operations to prove that the suspect is a source of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) in his area,” Salvador said.

The series of surveillance and test buy operations positively identified Lingat as a source of illegal drugs and was even considered a high value target of the City of San Fernando police, Salvador said.

On Thursday noon, June 14, police operatives conducted a drug bust against Lingat at his residence.

The operation also led to the confiscation of three sachets of shabu, one cellular phone allegedly used for illegal drug transactions and a transceiver radio used by suspect in his job as traffic enforcer.

The suspect is now under the custody of the City of San Fernando Police while charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of the Republic Act 9165 are being prepared against him.

In May this year, an employee of the City Environment and Natural Resources was also arrested by local authorities for the suspect’s alleged involvement in illegal drug trade.
