PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, November 6, promised to give rewards to police officers who will kill their "superiors" linked to illegal drugs.
Duterte made the vow during the lecture on militarization and drugs with Cabinet officials held at Malacañan Palace.
The President said he would send police officers to Hong Kong and give them P3 million if they are able to kill "ninja cops," or those who have involvement in illegal drugs.
"Any policeman who will kill his superior because the superior is into drugs, I will give you a prize and a trip to Hong Kong," he said.
"Oo, totoo. If you want to convert it into money... And ‘yung ninja sabi ko, ‘yung mga ninja, the [reward], it stands P3 million ba ‘yung sabi ko? Oo. Patayin ninyo, P3 million. Sige," he added.
(That's true. If you want to convert it into money, for ninja cops, the reward, did I say it stands P3 million? Fine, the reward is P3 million, kill them.)
Duterte's remarks came after Superintendent Santiago Ylanan Rapiz, assigned at the Logistics Branch of the Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office, was slain in a drug bust in Dipolog City late Monday, November 5.
Rapiz was reportedly among those included in the government's drug list for supposedly coddling slain drug lord Melvin Odicta.
Duterte vented frustrations that some members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) still have connections with illegal drugs despite his relentless campaign against the rampant narcotics trade.
"Police Superintendent Santiago Ylanan Rapiz from Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Police Office, killed in a shootout by CITF (Counter-Intelligence Task Force)-PNP during buy-bust operations in Barangay Miputak, Dipolog City," he said.
"T*** i**** mga pulis ‘yan, papatayin ko talaga kayo. Eh... Do not give me that human rights (Son of a b****, those cops involved in illegal drugs, I will really kill you. Do not give me that human rights)," Duterte added.
Duterte, however, warned cops that their superiors who have ties with drug personalities might retaliate.
"Ang superior na mga pulis lalaban man talaga ‘yan. Hindi ‘yan magpapahuli. One is that hindi ‘yan magpakahiya (Police superiors will really resist. They do not want to get arrested. One is they don't want to put themselves into shame)," he said.
On August 17, Duterte raised the bounty for a "dead" ninja cop to P5 million from the previous P3 million. (SunStar Philippines)
