WHAT was once the astronomical price of a Fernando Amorsolo painting, is now affordable as an Amorsolo collectilble! Rustan’s recently launched a whole range of home merchandise inspired by the country’s first National Artist, Fernando Amorsolo.

Featuring prints of the artist’s early works... “Harvesting” (1951), “Under The Mango Tree” (1930) and “Planting Rice” (1954). The gift items include shirts, 13-inch plates, notepads, tote bags, throw-pillow cases etc.

For art-lovers, a “must-have” is a two-volume coffee table book, “Amorsolo: Love and Passion.”

Very special guest was the artist’s daughter, Sylvia Amorsolo-Lazo, who graced the event with son, Fernando.

She said, “...when you get possession of these Amorsolo images, you are reminded of the simple, clean, beautiful Philippines during his era.”

The Amorsolo Collection is part of Rustan’s for the Arts campaign, a movement to patronize Philippine art and celebrate local artists. Indeed, Amorsolo is known for masterpieces that reflect the life and history of the Filipino people, and for this was bestowed the title, “Grand Old Man of Philippine Art in 1969.”

Ladies, wouldn’t you want to flaunt an Amorsolo blouse? Try one at Rustan’s Home Department, third floor. See you there!
