DUE to the increasing number of visitors and expansion of Roxas Night Market, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) created a team dedicated to secure the area.

During the AFP-PNP press forum at The Royal Mandaya Hotel Wednesday, November 7, DCPO spokesperson Police Senior Inspector Catherine dela Rey said the Roxas Night Market Precinct under Sta. Ana Police Station is manned by 32 personnel, including two officers.

Their office is located near the Marco Polo Hotel together with other law enforcement offices such as the Task Force Davao (TFD) and the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) to ensure the security of the Roxas Night Market vendors and its visitors.

They are manning various entry points of Roxas Night Market and inspecting night market goers.

“The Roxas Night Market has been extended that it almost reached Quezon Boulevard so there is really a need for additional personnel. Visitors are also increasing that’s why it was decided to form a team focused on the night market,” she said.

“Dili na makaya nga gamay lang. In fact, full force pud atong auxiliary (It's not enough to have a small number of personnel. Our auxiliary are also in full force),” she added.

The initiative aims to prevent a repeat of the September 2016 bombing incident that killed 15 individuals.
