Netflix to show Filipino comics Trese in anime format

TAITO Okiura, director of international originals, anime, confirms that Filipino comics Trese will be shown on Netflix in anime format.

This was announced Thursday, Nov. 8 during Netflix's See What's Next Asia conference in Singapore.

Trese is a Filipino graphic novel created by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldissimo.

It is set in Manila, where the mythical creatures of Philippine folklore live in hiding amongst humans.

Alexandra Trese, the main character, finds herself going head to head with a criminal underworld comprised of malevolent supernatural beings.

Executive producer is Jay Oliva (Wonder Woman, The Legend of Korra) and it will be produced by Shanty Harmayn and Tanya Yuson at BASE Entertainment, a studio based in Japan.

Netflix will announce the rest of the anime titles later Thursday, Nov. 8. (Luis Quibranza III)
