Better biz processing, more investments

GOVERNMENT efficiency through easing transaction processes are seen as key factors in attracting more investments in cities and municipalities in Davao Region, a government trade official said.

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Davao regional director Ma. Belenda Ambi said fast-tracking government processes will also allow the faster establishment of businesses in the region.

DTI continues to campaign against red tape in government processes.

Meanwhile, Ambi also underscored the recognition of competitive cities and municipalities in Davao Region as a medium in improving services for the people.

“This Regional Awarding is DTI’s way of giving recognition and pay tribute to all of our local government units who have exerted time and effort in generating and compiling relevant data and information which can, in a way, help investors in their decision-making to locate specific locations with their businesses in the region,” Ambi said on Wednesday, November 7, during the 2nd Regional Competitiveness Awards at The Pinnacle Hotel and Suites, Davao City.

Ambi added that over the past six years, the summit has become an opportunity to showcase the best of the best among local government units.

“This year, we covered more than 1,500 LGUs across the country. For Davao Region, we started in 2013 with just the key cities and capital towns, but since 2015, all of our 49 local government units were covered in the survey and awarding,” Ambi said.

Montevista, Compostela Valley; Malalag, Davao del Sur; and Digos City, Davao del Sur were awarded as Most Improved LGUs.

Hagonoy, Davao del Sur; Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte; and Tagum City, Davao del Norte were awarded as Most Competitive in Economic Dynamism.

Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental; Nabunturan, Composetela Valley; and Tagum City were awarded as Most Competitive in Government Efficiancy.
