Dolling up your house this Yuletide season

WHEN the Holidays are near, it is common for us ordinary Filipinos to just put up a Christmas tree, add some blinking lights and we're good to go.

But we can actually do more than that to really feel the Christmas spirit any time of the day. Here are some tips to give you an idea of how you can doll up your house.

1. Living room

A friend's house gave a glimpse on how not overly decorating, but just emphasizing the beautiful points of a living room, can make a difference. A white Christmas-themed runner with red and green strips on the hem was laid on the coffee table. The best part was the mini containers on the coffee table containing real peppermint and oatmeal cookies.

Their throw pillows are also Christmas but not too much. Knowing the right dose of Christmas spirit is the secret to decorating your living room. This year's theme is cream and gold, so you might also want to change your curtains according to this color scheme.

2. Dining area

Invest on new placemats, coasters, table cloth that will set the Yuletide mood. You will never go wrong with this year’s gold and cream tandem – very sophisticated and yet easy to find.

Invest on affordable yet cute and handy Christmas-themed ref magnets. It is also a bonus if your apron and rags are also part of this overall make-over activity.

3. Restroom

The restroom should be also dressed up. Put on some peppermint, vanilla, or cinnamon scented candles as these will not only help eliminate the unpleasant odor but will also set a very relaxing and light mood. Line up a few small Christmas-themed miniature figurines inside your restroom but just make sure that these do not disrupt the main objective of why people are using it.

Have fun!
