OFW, jeepney driver nabbed in drug bust

AN OVERSEAS Filipino worker (OFW) and a jeepney driver were arrested by local authorities in Sta. Ana for their alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade during a drug bust in Barangay San Isidro.

Senior Inspector Michael Chavez led the anti-illegal drug operation which resulted to the arrest of Donsuit Oronse, 46, jeepney driver, and Jojit Mayor, 38, an OFW who is in the only in the country for a vacation.

Chavez said that Oronse was the subject of the operation after reports reaching the police station tagged the latter for his participation in the proliferation of illegal drugs in Sta. Ana.

Mayor, meanwhile, was arrested after getting caught in the act of buying a sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) from Oronse, Chavez added.

Seized from the duo’s possession were 11 sachets of suspected shabu, various drug paraphernalia, and the P500 marked money used in the operation.

Mayor and Oronse are currently detained in this town’s police station and will be facing charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
