ABOUT 213 residents in Barangay Pampang, Angeles City are set to acquire their respective land titles as the local government through the Local Urban Poor Affairs and Housing Office (Lupaho) and private individuals inked a memorandum of agreement (MoA) on Tuesday, November 6.
The MoA was signed by Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, Vice-Mayor Bryan Matthew Nepomuceno, Councilor Amos Rivera, Pampang Barangay Captain Luis de Luna, LUPAHO-OIC Jericho Baldemor, Attorney-in Fact Renee Rose Marie Serrano, Carmelo Virgillo Lim, and Homeowners Association President Geralyn Cura.
The beneficiaries of the MoA from Purok 5B in Barangay Pampang are seen to benefit from the land acquisition program of the city. The property is owned by the Lim, Santos, Serrano, and Nepomuceno families.
The MoA states the sale of the property to the amount of P1,000 per square meter if paid in cash basis within a period of one year; or an amount of P1,500 per square meter if payable within a period of three years.
According to Rivera, Lupaho is mandated to perpetually render efficient and effective public service to indigent Angeleños by providing them decent homes which can truly be called their own. The city councilor also urged the beneficiaries to practice the honor of settling obligations as stipulated in the MoA.
Also during the ceremony, a total of 38 individuals from Purok 2 in the same village received their land titles.
Meanwhile, Nepomuceno acknowledged the generosity of the Lim, Santos, Serrano families and their descendants for collaborating with the city in the realizing the land title distribution.
Nepomuceno led the oath taking of the newly elected homeowners association officers shortly after the turnover ceremony.
For his part, Pamintuan expressed his appreciation to the unparalleled generosity of the land owners for helping the city accomplish its Contract with the Angelenos (CWA) especially on programs concerning the urban poor sector.
The mayor added that the active involvement of the benefactor families manifest their unity with the administration’s efforts to achieve “zero informal settlers” in the city.
In the same way, Pamintuan inspired the beneficiaries to be responsible in keeping what is stipulated in the MoA by religiously paying their dues. He assured everyone that the city’s program on low cost housing will be sustained by the local government in the coming years.
Also present during the signing of the MoA were Councilor Edgardo Pamintuan Jr., City Communications Officer Jay Pelayo IV, Barangay Captain Chris Cortez of Mining, Barangay Captain Alma Mercado of Tabun, Councilor Jericho Aguas and wife JC Parker-Aguas, Councilor Alexander Indiongco and wife CLAC President Thelma Indiongco, and Raco Del Rosario.
