HIGHLAND Boxing Gym top honcho Brico Santig will be among the boxing luminaries honored by the World Boxing Council (WBC) during the coming WBC 3rd Women's Convention and WBC Asia Summit from November 16 to 19 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Pasay City.
Santig will be joined by Gabriel Elorde of Elorde Promotions together with Jim Claude Manangquil of Sanman Boxing of General Santos City and promoter Jai Singh Shekhawat of Royal Sports Promotions in New Delhi, India.
The Highland Boxing Gym will be honored as the WBC ABCO Pacific Region Promoter of 2017-2018 while Elorde Jr. was named the WBC ABCO Far East Promoter of 2017-2018 with Manangquil as the WBC ABCO Archipelagic Zone Promoter of 2017-2018.
Other notable names in the list include Liu Gang (WBC ABCO East Asia Promoter of 2017-2018), Arvind Lalwani ( WBC ABCO Honorary Promoter of 2017-2018), Scott Patrick O’Farrell (WBC ABCO Oriental Promoter of 2017-2018), Arnold Nico Rojas ( WBC ABCO Honorary Promoter of 2017-2018), Vikram Swapragasam ( WBC ABCO Indo-Pacific Promoter of 2017-2018), Jai Singh Shekhawat ( WBC ABCO South Asia Promoter of 2017-2018), Pio Castillo Jr. ( WBC ASIA Honorary Promoter of 2017-2018) and Art Monis (Top Matchmaker 2017-2018).
Earlier this year, Santig was also named the WBC Asia Oriental best promoter for 2017 which was conferred during the WBC Asia and WBC Muay Thai Annual Awards on April 30 at Asia Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
Also this year, seven boxers who train with Highland Boxing Gym were among the honorees during the 18th Gabriel “Flash” Elorde Boxing Awards and Banquet of Champion at Okada Manila recently.
Santig was also named the “World Boxing Council Asia Honorary Promoter of the Year 2016.”
WBC has cited the Benguet native Santig for his outstanding performance in promoting boxing under the WBC banner for 2016.
In 2015, Santig received two major awards from two prestigious boxing organizations in the Asia-Pacific region.
Santig was conferred for the first time the “2015 Promoter of the Year” award by the Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation and the “2015 Promoter of the Year in the Asia Pacific Region” by the WBC-Asia Boxing Council.
