Napolcom steps in to probe Bukidnon murder

THE National Police Commission (Napolcom) in Northern Mindanao is stepping in to probe the killing of three men whose bodies were found dumped on a cliff in Malitbog, Bukidnon, saying it is alarmed that some policemen were linked to the incident.

The bodies of Vincent Vimen, Clifford Abales, and Don Remar Andales were found in Sitio Bagong Silang, Malitbog, two days after they were allegedly invited by the Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental town police for questioning.

Lawyer Robert Lou Elango, chairman of the Police Regional Appellate Board of Napolcom-Northern Mindanao, said it required the Bukidnon Provincial Police Office (PPO) to submit a report on the incident.

He said the Malitbog town police forwarded an initial report Friday, November 9.

“Among gi-require ang Bukidnon PPO nga mag-submit og report about ato nga incident kay toa naman sa ilang investigation division,” Elango said.

Elango said they were alarmed that some members of the Tagoloan police were linked to the killing, prompting the commission to step in and gather documents.

“Medyo naalarma mi kay ang report naa police nga involved ug gisuspetsahan mao nga nilihok nami bisan wala pay complainant ug nag-start nami gather og documents,” he added.

The commission will determine its next move once it receives the report from the Bukidnon PPO and when the perpetrators are identified.

Elango said the relatives of the victims may also file complaints before the Napolcom.

“Welcome sila nga mag-reklamo. Niabot pud sa ato nga information nga naay names involved,” Elango said.

He said establishing the witnesses of the crime is also another angle that has to be developed.

Elango also reminds every police station to put into record everything the police does in the course of the investigation even when inviting people for questioning.

“Dapat tanan ma-record kung tinuod nga gi-invite sa police station everything must be recorded.
