Ranido bags seniors title

NESTOR Ranido of Sugarbowl Tenpin Bowling Association Inc. (Stbai-55AB) bagged the Seniors Masters’ title in the 10th Cetba-NBT Open Tenpin Bowling Championships 2018 at the SM City Bowling Center on Saturday, Nov. 10.

The 26-handicapper Ranido finished with a total score of 1,702 in the finals en route to taking the top honors of the 50-Above division and the P40,000 cash purse.

The top six male bowlers, top six female keglers and the top 21 bowlers from the mixed pool made it to the finals after the qualifying rounds. The bowlers played an eight-game series in the finals with lane changes after every two games.

Ranido played steady in the first four games in the finals, scoring 181, 198, 198 and 183 to gain an early lead. Ranido hit his day’s best of 199 in the sixth game to add to his 181, 175 and 179 scores in the last four games.

Roger Asumbrado of Bowling Tenpin Association (BTA) was 31 pins behind and settled for second place and the P20,000 cash prize. The 27-handicapper Asumbrado had scores of 184, 159, 171, 179, 181, 195, 193 and 193.

Ben Pacheco of Cavite South Bowling Association (Casba) snagged third place with a score of 1,670. Perla Pacheco also from Casba took fourth place with 1,626, and George Manoso of Iloilo Tenpin Bowling Association (Itba-Gruppo) fired 1,622 to round up the Top 5.

The third to fifth placers received P10,000, P5,000 and P3,000 in cash prizes, respectively.

Completing the Top 10 were Luther Tapaya (1,607) of BTA, Raquel Hayes (1,601) of Manila Tenpin Bowlers Association (MTBA), Eric Bucoy (1,599) of Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (Cetba), Joseph Yu (1,593) also from Cetba and Inday Aguilar (1,593) of BTA.

Meanwhile, the top bowlers will hunt for the coveted title in the Masters’ Open finals on Sunday, Nov. 11. RSC
