A 39-YEAR-OLD tricycle driver was shot dead by an unidentified assailant past midnight Monday, June 4, in Sitio Mahayahay in Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
Inspector Wilfredo Rodriguez, homicide section chief, identified the fatality as Leadillo Labonso Ugsang, who succumbed to gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.
Investigation showed the victim was driving his tricycle towards his home before the incident happened.
The police said Ugsang failed to notice that the gunman was waiting for him in the dim part of the sitio. When the victim passed by, he was shot several times, hitting him in the head, neck, waist and left hand.
He was rushed to Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital, but did not make it alive.
Rodriguez said his personnel are still investigating the incident to determine the motive behind the murder. Ugsang was unmarried and a native of Tandag, Surigao del Sur. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
