PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde ensured the PNP’s preparedness to arrest Ilocos Norte Representative Imelda Marcos.

“Well sa ngayon po wala pa tayong nakukuhang kopya or kautusan coming from the sandiganbayan for the arrest of the former first lady. Kung mabigyan po tayo ng kopya we will gladly serve po ‘yung warrant na yan at susunod po tayo sa kautusan ng sandiganbayan kung saan talaga dadalhin ‘yung dating first lady,” Albayalde said on Saturday, November 10.

“Opo. Nakahanda po ang PNP kahit kung may kautusan na dadalhin sa Camp Crame nakahanda po kami,” he added.

The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division found Marcos guilty of seven counts of graft which stemmed from her “financial interests and participation in the management of private foundations in Switzerland” when she served as a Cabinet official during her late husband’s term.

The anti-graft court sentenced Marcos to suffer the penalty of imprisonment from six years and one month up to 11 years for each count of the graft case filed against her.

The Sandiganbayan also said that Marcos is “perpetually disqualified from holding any public post.”

Albayalde said Marcos will be possibly detained at the PNP-custodial center where Senators Leila De Lima and Ramon “Bong” Revilla, who were implicated in the multi-billion pork barrel scam, are being held.

He said she may be also detained at the PNP General Hospital considering her old age and health condition just like their former detainee former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile who were also charged over the alleged misuse of his pork barrel. (SunStar Philippines)
