PARTY-LIST lawmakers slammed Ilocos Norte Representative Imelda Marcos for attending a party after the Sandiganbayan convicted her for seven counts of graft.

Marcos was seen in photos with other government officials during her daughter Imee Marcos' birthday party the same day after the anti-graft court ordered her arrest in relation to her creation of private foundations in Switzerland while she was holding various posts in the government in the past.

"Despite the sandigan's guilty verdict and issuance of a warrant of arrest against her, Imelda Marcos has the gall to attend her daughter's (Imee Marcos) birthday celebration and go partying."

"This is a mockery of the Filipino people who had fought decades-long uphill battle to bring the Marcoses to account for their crimes," said Anakpawis Representative Ariel Casilao.

Casilao slammed this as "double standard."

He also said it is highly unacceptable for the Philippine National Police to say that they have not yet received court warrant of arrest.

"Kung ordinaryong Pilipino at mga aktibista ang na-isyuhan na nga warrant of arrest, mabilis pa sa alas kwatro ang mga pulis para mang-aresto," he said.

ACT Teachers Representative France Castro said Marcos should have instead prepared for her arrest.

"She should have instead prepared for her promulgation day instead of partying."

"Perhaps she was confident that she will be acquitted of her crime to the Filipino people? Mahiya naman ang pamilyang Marcos sa mga Filipino," she added. (SunStar Philippines)
