“WITHOUT a doubt, just count us in the final. And you can have my words.”

Saying this before the game starts, gutsy playmaker Marvin Neri and the rest of Team Alam did prove once again their supremacy in the ongoing Green CdeO Eagles basketball 2nd President’s Cup at the SPC covered court here.

Despite playing with only six of them in uniform, Team Alam Na on Thursday night blasted Team Doc Neri, 67-52 to move one game away of their fifth-straight title in the showbiz-filled Eagles hoopfest.

They will face the youth-laden Team Daabay, who got a 79-65 winner over Romulz Power, in the championship round on Thursday night at same venue.

Inspired by the presence of PBA’s Rain or Shine cager Rey Nambatac Jr., who came to watch the games along with his family, the Team Alam Na charges of Anjun Gomez and Yogi Hembrador were all ablazing right from the go to the bewilderment of the Boning Biongcog-led Team Doki.

“We’re so confident to beat them (Biongcog and company) maskin wala mi nakompleto kay kondisyon kaayo ‘ming Kuya Dolchuy,” said Tokbien Neri, referring to power forward Janjan Babiera who burned the hoops with a remarkable 40 points.

Neri dropped in 22 while his cousin Marvel Neri added 12 points. Team Doki got 15 and 10 markers each from Biongcog and Jay Buot.

Team Daabay, built around the youngest players in the league, finally made it to the final after defeating Romulz Power, 79-65.

With Tata Bajao shooting well off perimeter range, Romulz Power controlled the half only to disintegrate in the final half on a spate of costly turnovers and loose defense against Team Daabay spitfires Tarotoy Remoto and Shian Galanida who chipped in 16 points each and another 14 from Anderson Mauricio.

“Tinood wala sa condition atong idol (Waway) pero factor kaayo gikaon ni Remoto ang depensa sa Romuls team in the fourth quarter. So, kitakits na lang sa final,” Hembrador said.
