MABALACAT City College, based in Barangay Dolores, has been in existence since 2008 and gained recognitions and accreditations and has never looked back ever since.
Its methods of instruction have been rationalized and improved with the aim of achieving good results, both in national examinations and in accreditation with the Commission on Higher Education, a government agency tasked with monitoring activities and performances of higher education institutions (HEIs).
I learned that it is in the midst of evaluation by CHED and ALCU-COA or the Association of Local Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation. Everyone therefore is tasked to contribute his share to complete the requirements of the accreditation. Dr. Carmelita P. Sotto, college president and whose reappointment needs to be formalized with the letter of appointment, calls the shots and is deeply engrossed in collating data from different institutes of the school and fine tuning the results.
Among the documentations required are: tactical plan, strategic plan and institutional development plan.
Culled from the institutional development plan of the Mabalacat City College are the Key Result Areas (KRAs) on Governance and Management, Quality of Teaching and Learning, Quality Research and Creative Works, Support for Students and Relations with the Community.
My sister, Dr. Sotto, works really hard to make the Mabalacat City College come up at par, if not better, than its contemporaries, the City Colleges of Angeles and San Fernando.
I also learned that one CPA aspirant passed the board examinations for certified public accountants. Hopes are pinned on the next batch of Custom Brokers who will take the board exams next.

So, the group of Davao-based businessman Dennis Uy and state-run China Telecom was named the provisional third telco in the country November 7 in order to break the duo-poly of PLDT-Smart and Globe.
Uy's Udenna was the lone qualified bidder after the others were disqualified due to lack of requirements and other technicalities.
It is a holding company with interests in energy, logistics, property and education. Its partner, China Telecom, is China's third largest telco with about 250 million mobile subscribers and $50 billion in annual operating revenue.
Dennis Uy, a namesake of Dennis Anthony Uy who owns Converge ICT Solutions based in Balibago, is reportedly close to President Duterte and is a huge campaign donor.

With the midterm elections in May next year, we can probably learn from the conduct of the US midterm polls. In an article written by Sheila Crisostomo of the Philippine Star, she stated that one of these lessons is simplicity, which is obviously absent from campaigns in the Philippines.
Quoting Abner Galino, a reporter of Weekend Balita and UP Asian Post, she disclosed: Here, elections are very simple. You wont see campaign materials on the road, unlike in the Philippines where all corners are full of campaign posters. Campaign spending here is minimal. Whew!
Galino furthered: Candidates here campaign but are not accompanied by a caravan of supporters!
The election results in the US are broadcast a day after the election, not like in the Philippines where we await the results for a longer time. There are so-called election hot spots in the Philippines, none is reported in the US. Here, candidates do not lose, they are cheated!
