2 women nabbed in Mati City drug bust

TWO women were nabbed by authorities during an anti-illegal drug operation on November 9 in Mati City.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao, Regional Director Police Chief Superintendent Marcelo Morales said that two female drug suspects were arrested at Crossing Capitol, Limatoc Street, Barangay Central, Mati City by the Mati City Police Station and Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Service (PIDMS) Davao Oriental Provincial Police Office (DOPPO) operatives in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

“Despite our intense anti-drug operations there are still (drug) users who think they can get away with their habits. We will continue to keep on tracking all those involved in illegal drug activities and we will not stop until they are all arrested and put in prison," Morales said.

The arrested suspects were identified as Maricar Trimidal alias “Car,” married, female, 24, jobless, a resident of Magsaysay 17-4A1, Barangay Central, Mati City, Davao Oriental; and her cohort named Genevive Duay, married, female, 24, jobless, and resident of Purok Bagong Silang, Liberty, Barangay Central, Mati City, Davao Oriental.

The drug bust was conducted by the authorities around 11:30 p.m. During the operation, the suspects were caught in the act selling drugs. The authorities confiscated one sachet of suspected shabu and P500 marked money used during the transaction.

Morales said Trimidal is a newly identified drug personality while her husband, Cristian Trimidal was already arrested with the same offense and is now detained at Davao Oriental Provincial Jail.

Meanwhile, the suspects and confiscated items are now in the custody of the said police station for proper disposition while a case of Violation of RA 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects.
