Estremera: Don't brush off LOA as new age voodoo

LAW of attraction, it became a byword by the turn of the century with people going gaga about it. They went so gaga, many acted like cultists. And like many cults... they were soon brushed off as dingbats.

But don't be too quick about that. There is truth in that, biblical even.

Weren't we told, Ask and it shall be given? Weren't we constantly told to forgive and act only with love?

In the years that the newsroom became younger and younger and the millennials moved in with all their angst and melodramatic way of looking at life and that big deal about one's purpose, I have found the key. For indeed, life becomes more fun, satisfying, and blessed when you have a noble purpose. Just remove the drama and angst of the millennials and very recently with millennials' angst and drama raised to the nth level courtesy of the GenZ's.

My friends and I have been demystifying myths and beliefs, including feng shui, seeing the practical applications that brought about the myth and the ceremonies.

Like in feng shui, it is not advisable (and the feng shui master to add drama say it's bad lucky) to build your house with its back to a mountain slope. But of course that's not advisable because there will always be the likelihood of the earth on the slope falling down on you, and because it's in your backyard, chances are, you will not notice cracks since majority of the activities will be at the front yard as normal home activity goes.

It's also not advisable to build your house at a dogleg of a river. Ehem, why indeed would you when a river will almost always breach its banks. Guess what will happen to your house on the dogleg?

But like the millennial and GenZ drama, drama too has been added, therefore the need for chimes and symbols and whatever else. But what do the chimes and symbols and whatever else really do?

These give you peace of mind, and the state of your mind is very crucial to your daily life.

Be careful what you pray for, we are often warned. In Bisaya, they say, “nababaan” when someone's statement becomes true right away. In Tagalog, it's “nagdilang anghel.”

On the reverse side, there's the belief that bad luck comes in threes. But what really is going on there?

When bad luck number one comes, you say, “Oh no!!! Now there will be two more!”

True enough, as you anticipated, two more will come. And then the string of bad lucks will end. You know why? Because your mind is already at peace, three bad lucks have passed and I have survived, no other bad luck will come because they only come in threes. And so, no bad luck does.

“Therefore I say to you, what things so ever your desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them.” - Mark 11:24

LOA is new, the Bible is old. They are saying the same THING, but someone just repackaged it and so built a cult following...
