THE Zamboanga Association Skilled and Trained Inmates of the Zamboanga City Jail (ZCJ) have benefitted from the livelihood program of the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole).
The Dole released on Friday, November 9, P900,000 worth of livelihood starter kits for tailoring for the association.
Chief Inspector Nathaniel Aljas, ZCJ warden, said the livelihood starter kits consisted of 13 units sewing machines with complete accessories.
Aljas said the beneficiary-association has 88 members who are ZCJ inmates, also known as persons deprived of liberty (DPL).
The association, Aljas added, came up with the livelihood project proposal way back in 2016 and the assistance was finally released on November 9. The group will cater to the clothing needs of the PDLs, including the uniforms, as well as other products.
Meanwhile, Dole Regional Director Ofelia Domingo said they will assist in marketing the products of the Zamboanga Association Skilled and Trained Inmates.
Domingo said it is the first time for them to provide livelihood project to the association of inmates at the ZCJ. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
