AS PASKO Fiesta 2018 kicks off next week, local law enforcers will be in full alert status in preparation for the series of activities that will take place in different areas in the city.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Police Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum said the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) has been conducting a series of Coordinating Conferences with DCPO, Task Force Davao, and other security forces and law enforcement agencies for a Comprehensive Security Operations in Davao City.
“We will intensify our security operations in all public convergence areas through a maximum deployment of our security personnel,” Tagum said in an interview.
He said they have not downgraded their security status even after the All Saints Day and All Souls Day.
They have continued with beefing up their security measures for the upcoming holiday season with an expected influx of visitors.
“We are still on full alert. Mag start ang intensified security employment pag mag start na ang City Pasko Fiesta,” he said.
This year’s Pasko Fiesta, the annual Christmas celebration spearheaded by Davao City government, will start on November 23 until December 30.
A total of P42 million was allocated for the celebration. Of this figure, P16 million is intended for security.
“(The budget is) obviously (para) sa mobilization ng security personnel yan- gas and maintenance of mobile patrol vehicles, food and drink of the deployed personnel na walang alisan sa post nila and utilization of the three media for the public awareness campaign,” Tagum said.
There are critical areas that they will focus on such as public convergence areas, activity areas like concerts, eateries, parks and public service areas or facilities.
Authorities also remind the public to be alert since there will be criminals lurking around who will take advantage of the Christmas rush.
