2 Oro police commanders relieved

FOLLOWING the robbery of an outlet of the courier firm LBC Express in Velez-Neri streets, Cagayan de Oro City, a police station commander was relieved from his post, but a city police official said the incident was not the reason for his relief.

Superintendent Mardy Hortillosa II, spokesperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo), said Chief Inspector Julius Clark Macariola, police station 1 commander was relieved effective November 5.

Macariola was reassigned to the City Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (CPHAU) while waiting for his scheduled schooling.

"Naa under sa office of the city police director si Macarioa while nagpaabot sa iyang schooling," Hortillosa said.

Also relieved was Senior Inspector Demver Vergara, chief of police station 4 in Carmen. He was transferred to the intelligence division of the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10)

Macariola was replaced by Senior Inspector Rustico Galagala Jr. effective November 5 while former chief of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) Senior Inspector Excyllo Alcantara took over Vergara's post effective November 7.

Hortillosa explained that the relief and reassignment of the two police station commanders are part of the normal movement and not because of the string of robbery cases involving the LBC courier firm.

"Dili ang robbery sa LBC ang rason sa ilang relief order," Hortillosa said.

The LBC Velez-Neri branch was robbed by two armed suspects on a broad daylight last November 4. One of the suspects, Roosevelt Bedro was arrested the following day in a hot pursuit operation.

Investigation revealed that the suspects were responsible in the robbery of another LBC branch in Carmen, the barangay under the jurisdiction of police station 4.

In a similar development, Hortillosa said they lauded the establishment for finally hiring security personnel.

"Nagpasalamat mi kay ang LBC naa nay guard para ma-improve ang ilang security measures," Hortillosa said.

"Mas maayo pa gyud unta kung magbutang sila og grills sa counter para dili gyud basta-basta masudlan sa mga tulisan ug makuha ang kwarta," he added.
