Tourism chief tours New Clark City

DEPARTMENT of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat recently toured New Clark City, one of the main competition venues for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games hosted by the Philippines and shared on her social media account a clip of the ongoing construction of the 20,000-seating capacity Athletic Stadium.

Romulo-Puyat was accompanied during the visit by Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) President and CEO Vivencio Dizon, renowned Filipino designer Kenneth Cobonpue, and Architect Royal Pineda, the architect behind the world-class design of sports facilities.

"Have a glimpse of the future, the modern Philippines," Pineda told Romulo-Puyat.

For his part, Dizon said: "We welcome and appreciate the Secretary's visit in New Clark City, the country's first fully masterplanned, green, and smart city. We hope her visit will further draw support for local tourism not just in Clark, but in Central Luzon."

Aside from the stadium, the world-class sports complex in New Clark City also includes a 2,000-seater Aquatic Center, and an Athletes’ Village that can accommodate up to 1,000 sportsmen. These facilities are targeted to be completed by September next year.

Clark will serve as the main hub of the 30th Southeast Asian Games hosted by the Philippines next year from November 30 to December 10.
