POLICE are now backtracking all vehicles with protocol plate No. 8 following a road rage incident on Sunday, November 11 along MacArthur Avenue in Balibao, Angeles City.

Police Regional Office-Central Luzon Director Amador V. Corpus said that

the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit and the Highway Patrol Unit in the region are looking for an FJ Cruiser bearing protocol 8 plate, vehicles commonly assigned to the House of Representatives.

“The suspect who was on board an FJ cruiser with protocol plate No.8 went out of his vehicle and punched the victim several times who was on board his Toyota sedan claiming that the latter allegedly overtook him abruptly,” Corpus said in his statement.

The incident happened infront of Dainty Restaurant at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Corpus said police already interviewed the victim and a follow up investigation is being conducted for the identity of the suspect.

Corpus added the local government units as well as concerned political figures have expressed their willingness to support the police in identifying the driver of the vehicle.

“Time and again, we appeal to the public that if you have any information that will lead to the identification of the driver, do not hesitate to come forward and please report to the nearest station or through PNP hotline 09985985330/09176235700,” Corpus said.

Meanwhile, Pampanga 1st District Representative Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II in a press conference on Tuesday, November 13, denied rumors that he was the owner of the vehicle saying he does not have a “8” license plate.

“Unang-una, ang komento ko po, dahil duly elected po ako, wala pa namang na-issue na plaka ang 17th Congress. So kung makikita sa video, ang ginamit na plaka ay 16th Congress, so 'di pa po ako representante pa non. So makikita po non na walang kaugnayan po sa akin kung anumang viral video ang lumabas,” said Lazatin.
