THE Philippine National Police (PNP) will call the attention of the production outfit behind the teleserye “Ang Probinsyano” over the bad image of policemen being portrayed in the show.

PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde said they have also sought the assistance of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to call the attention of the production team.

“There are several people already we get actually from text messages marami na rin nagco-comment as if hindi naman fair sa PNP ‘yung mga ganyang portrayal sa PNP. Parang ‘yung the chief PNP himself is a villain na hindi naman po siguro kailanman nangyari sa amin, in reality well hindi pwedeng mangyari yan," he said in a press conference on Wednesday.

"It's very disturbing and para kasing ang nakikita ng mga tao na parang instant ‘yung justice, parang it's okay. It's not. We are a nation of laws, not of men. Yun ang gusto natin ipakita kaya lang naman tayo nag comment doon,” he added.

Albayalde said they will seek an audience with the production team. He said it is unfair on the PNP because the illegal activities that happen on the show do not occur in their organization.

“Kung hindi man nila matigil yun e mabago man lang ‘yung pagpo-portray sa PNP (If they could not stop it, then at least they could change the way the PNP is portrayed)," he said.

In the said teleserye, the character PNP Chief Alejandro Terante who is being portrayed by actor Soliman Cruz is the bad guy who takes orders from the character President Lucas Cabrera who is being portrayed by Edu Manzano. (SunStar Philippines)
