Lite Ferries to launch Lite Ferry 18 in Oro

THE Lite Ferries Corporation is set to launch its biggest and latest acquisition, the 92-meter roll-on-roll-off (RoRo) passenger ship on Saturday, November 17, at the Port of Cagayan de Oro City.

The M/V Lite Ferry 18, according to Lite Ferries, is the youngest (built in 2002) and to date the fastest RoRo passenger ferry plying the Cebu City to Cagayan de Oro City route with a travel time of 9 hours.

The vessel has a gross tonnage of 3,800 tons which can carry 774 passengers. It will cover the schedule of Cebu to Cagayan de Oro every Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7 p.m., and Cagayan de Oro to Cebu every Tuesdays, Thursday, and Saturdays at 7 p.m.

According to Lite Ferries, the Lite Ferry 18 is designed to have a hotel-like features and amenities such as a fully air-conditioned 35-seater restaurant, a fully stocked canteen that is open overnight, an information/reception desk and a multi-purpose kiosk.

It also has non-aircon economy, aircon tourist and executive business class areas, it added.

At present, Lite Ferries operates a total fleet of 25 RoRo passenger ferries in Visayas and Mindanao. Lite Ferries connects the islands of Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, Negros, Samar, Leyte, and Northern Mindanao with 22 destinations.
