POLICE Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera’s Special Weapons and Tactics (Swat) Teams landed in the 6th and 32nd places respectively at the end of the five day PNP 2nd National Swat Challenge held at the Davao Shooting Range, Diversion Road, Maa, Davao City recently.

The PNP Swat challenge is a tactical game, part of the PNP’s master training action plan for 2018 geared to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency as well as the tactical proficiency of the different PNP SWAT Units.

It was developed as a continuous program to test and upgrade the skills and operational capabilities of all Swat units in handling practical and realistic scenarios in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism.

The PNP 2nd Swat Challenge was participated by 86 teams coming from different units of the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

It was organized by the Directorate for Human Resource and Doctrine Development (DHRDD), PNP in cooperation with the Philippine Shooters and Match Officers Confederation (PSMOC).

PRO-Cordillera has two participating team players composed of 10 men each, officer led, from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 15.

PRO–Cordillera participating Swat teams in the PNP 2nd Challenge was led by Senior Inspector Daryl Garro and Inspector Jim Cris Dagdag of the RMFB-15.

“I am proud of our RMFB 15 personnel, being our front liners in the said competition, we need to give them the best training and equipment to enhance their skills, capabilities, accuracy and team work, not only to win the next PNP Swat Challenge but to win our actual fight against terrorism and insurgency,” Chief Superintendent Rolando Nana, PRO-Cordillera regional director said.

During the PNP 1st Swat Challenge held last March this year, PRO-Cordillera landed 7th place.

Official Awarding of winners of the PNP 2nd Swat Challenge is set to be held at the PNP National Headquarters, Camp Crame, Quezon City anytime this month.

The challenge is composed of four stages that will test the strength, stamina, skills, and teamwork of each participating team. (Jonathan Llanes)
