POLICE Chief Superintendent Marcelo Morales, Police Regional Office (PRO 11) regional director, ordered an investigation into the two shooting incidents that targeted a municipal councilor of New Corella, Davao del Norte and a dispatcher of a bus terminal on Tuesday, November 13.

Morales directed his personnel to conduct an in-depth investigation to establish the motive of the attack and identify the assailants.

Since one of the victims is a government official, he said that they were looking at the possibility that this could be an election-related incident.

Alvin Anib Libres, incumbent municipal councilor of New Corella, Davao del Norte, was shot on his neck while sitting inside his vehicle in Purok 3, Barangay Poblacion, New Corella.

He is undergoing treatment at the Tagum Doctors Hospital.

The second victim was identified as Lito Labor, 55, a public transport terminal dispatcher. He was shot about 200 meters away from the first crime scene.

Labor was recording the departure of passengers when two unidentified men shot him. He was declared dead on arrival at the Davao Regional Medical Center in Tagum City.

Personnel of the New Corella Municipal Police Station and adjacent police stations conducted checkpoints after the shooting.

"Ang inyo pong kapulisan ay hindi titigil hangga't hindi napapanagot ang may sala. Akin din pong hinihiling sa mga nakakita ng insidente or may alam sa pagkakalinlan sa mga suspetsado, ay agaran pong ipagbigay-alam sa amin para sa agarang ikalulutas ng kaso at ng mabigyan ng agarang hustisya ang mga biktima," Morales said.
