WE savored these Spanish one-of-a-kind specialties and delicacies at the Sabores de España food festival at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu: Fabada, Lengua Estofada, the never-to-forget Paella, assorted tapas—y mucho mas!

It has always been the tradition of the hotel to mark this occasion with Spain’s national colors: red and yellow! This theme echoed through the cocktail area, from the centerpiece skirting of the Jamon Serrano, to the servers who were dressed as matadors.

This festival was under the expertise of Cebu’s foremost authority on Spanish cuisine, Gema Luisa Pido, who had the full support of hotel general manager Brian Connelly and his marketing staff.

Doing Consular duties was Spain’s Honorary Consul in Cebu Anton Perdices, with wife Maripaz, Amigos de España president Myra Osmeña Gonzalez, former Spanish Honorary Consul in Cebu Jaime Picornell, other glam guests, Cebu media etc.

Performing a fiery Fandango was the colorful Mactan Dynamic Dance Company, who twirled as guests sipped their sangrias. Ole!

A celebration of unity and prosperity was marked at the awesome Mandani Bay show gallery recently. Falling on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Lunar calendar, the Mooncake festival is the culmination of the month-long Mid-Autumn festival in thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest.

Mandani Bay went “Sky’s the Limit” with skillful Lion and Dragon dances, glowing lanterns and a gastronomic array of Chinese-Filipino dishes to symbolize family togetherness.

It was also a fitting occasion to visit the posh Mandani Bay residential units, escorted by that youthful, professional sales person, Akira Sato. The memorable evening was capped by heart-stopping fireworks!
